Amber

BadCat's version of The Amber Cocktail is adapted from the recipe listed in Difford’s Guide and attributed to Douglas Ankrah of the Red Fort in London. I wanted to evoke the spirit of autumn with a drink that featured vodka to appeal to clients that appreciate seasonal favors, but who might be put off by the traditional spirits of the season like whiskey or brandy. I have eschewed Bison Grass vodka from the Difford's version, instead using plain vodka and added Angostura bitters to add dimension to the drink. I have also incorporated ginger syrup instead of muddle ginger to ensure a uniform and consistent diffusion of the warming flavor throughout the drink.

I wanted to create a light and refreshing sparkling drink that manages to evoke the full flavors of fall. The vodka highlights the full fruit flavor of the apple juice and liqueur, while the bitters and ginger syrup evoke the warming spice blend of baked apple pie.
