Pumpkin Spice

Fall in modern America has come to be associated with ‘pumpkin spiced’ beverages, particularly in coffee. Pumpkin is a native gourd, with written recipes and accounts of the pie going back to the late 18th century.  The combination of ginger, cinnamon, allspice, and clove represents a healthy subset of the spices present in an American or English household’s spice box.

BadCat’s Pumpkin Spice Cocktail evokes the Pumpkin Spiced Latte of a brisk fall morning in the form of an indulgent dessert drink. Oat milk forms a solid base for the expression of the bold bouquet of spice, while the spiced rum adds to the expression of spice while evoking the flavor of coffee. I created BadCat’s Pumpkin Spice Syrup, made in-house with fresh spices and real pumpkin purée, and we have chosen to use oat milk which increases the drink’s shelf-stability, in addition to being a nut-free, vegan alternative to traditional dairy.  This beverage can also be added to coffee, just as you might add another cream liquor.
