Daiquiri
The Daiquiri is one of the core vintage cocktails that epitomizes the trinity of tropical drinks: rum, sugar, and lime. The drink was named, though most likely not invented by Jennings Stockton Cox, Jr. who was John D. Rockefeller's agent in Daiquiri, Cuba. It was perfected a decade and a half later by Constantino Vert, bartender and owner of the La Florida in Havana, where Hemmingway famously drank them by the pitcher.
I have modeled BadCat's Daiquri after Constantino's Daiquiri #3, adding grapefruit juice and Maraschino liqueur to the basic daiquiri formula. The genuine Luxardo Maraschino cherry garnish further contrasts the citrus of the fresh squeezed lime juice, making this a simply balanced drink that will quench your thirst for a delightful tiki drink.
